... and western of course! Downtown Nashville consists of one main street, lined on both sides by honky tonks. Any time of the day or night the neon lights are flashing, the smell of beer is wafting through the air and live country western music is blaring out from the open doors. The party goes all weekend and everyone's invited.
Lovely husband C. And I got off the main drag pretty quickly and headed out to a national park for a music festival. We ate barbecue and drank icy cold coke while listening to a procession of acts, each better than the last.
On our last morning we tucked ourselves into a tiny neighborhood cafe and shared pancakes and a breakfast sandwich, washed down with big mugs of coffee and then jumped into our car for our road trip to Memphis...

These pics are so American that I can just smile when I see them thinking of the years I lived there.

Well my long weekend isn't until this weekend so I'll keep you posted on that ;) I loved following your instagram photos as you lived up your weekend away. It sounds and looks like these types of places live up to their expectations. Love that last picture with the swing, Imagine that with a loved one and a cold drink in Summer! xo
What a gorgeous weekend away! I've always wanted to go to Nashville and Memphis, maybe someday. We went to Luray, VA for a quiet weekend in the country.
I would love to visit Nashville, living in Kentucky you would think I would drive down sometime to visit, but I never seem to find the time. Last week my sister and I took a 3 day trip to Abingdon, VA. We had a great time.
Looking forward to seeing more on your trip.
Sunny Days and Starry Nights
Hi dear, thanks for your lovely comments, its always great to hear from you :) Each time I come onto your blog, I am taken on an exciting journey to a different place in the US. I would have otherwise never seen these parts of it if it were not for you. Cant rely on magazines and movies as much as someone's real life personal experiences, and you have a great eye for detail. Nashville seems to have a great and free countryside feel to it, but with modern elements too. Is it a far drive from NYC?
Have a wonderful week!
what a beautiful place to celebrate Memorial Day! Xox <3 hautepinkpretty.com

These are such fabulous photos. It's quintessential Southern American. Couldn't be more different to the European culture here.
How fun!!! I've never been! I've been to Tennessee for work before but I stayed outside of Nashville. Would love to get there one day. Glad you had such a wonderful time :)
