The last few weeks have been hectic to say the least. I don't think I've done much more than work, sleep, eat (when I can fit it in) and fly between Chicago and New York. When life gets this busy, I usually do a lot of escapist day dreaming about upcoming travel plans, morning walks on beautiful Perth beaches and my favourite holidays that lovely husband C. and I have taken.

| - Ayers Rock, Northern Territory - |
One of my hands-down favourite holidays ever is the five day hike we did in the Northern Territory in Australia in August 2010 - the Jatbula Trail. It was the most incredibly amazing experience. The landscape was surreal at times, the colours were incredibly vivid and it was a joy to be without any sort of mobile reception. I was the most relaxed I'd ever been... after I got over my fear of running into a snake/crocodile/big spider/water buffalo or wild pig!
I work to live, not live to work so I use this day dreaming to remind myself of exactly why I work this hard - so I can see the world in my downtime. Where do you go in your head when you're day dreaming the day away?
From New York, with love xox

Oh Australia! I've never been the to NT but I think my fear of crocodiles and snakes my keep me away a little longer! Hope you get to enjoy this weekend!
Looks exciting but I have to admit I am might be very scared of crocs and other creatures while hiking.

Amazing photos - the one of Ayers Rock should be sent to a travel magazine. The terrain there in Australia is so different from anything or place I have ever seen. Is there a geological reason for the redness of the soil? You are really brave for overcoming this trail, it sounds daunting (creatures and long hikes are not friends of mine, lol).
Have a great weekend, i will also be dreaming of beautiful places to visit :)
This is actually a part of Australia I really really want to see. I like the idea of hiking a trail. The cave paintings are beautiful. When I feel work winning a little, I usually think about a little midweek getaway we took in Fiji. That always makes me happy :)
I do the same! I'm always daydreaming about past trips J and I have taken. I live for vacation and if I'm not on one I'm dreaming of past ones or planning a future one. These photos are just gorgeous and I would love to visit.
Have a wonderful weekend :) xoxo
Beautiful photos Hope! I'm always dreaming of my next holiday too, it definitely makes the 9-5 more bearable! xo K
The hike must have been wonderful. I love the centre, north and North West of Australia, I love the open sky and carpet of stars at night!!
I often think about those remote areas when I want to escape x
MMMM LOVELY post:) Thank you for sweet words on my blog:) ..I have instagram now..I hope you will follow me there if you have it:)
have an awesome.
LOVE M
Per usual gorgeous pictures, no wonder you daydream about that trip. I usually go to my parents summer house, sitting on a tube with my parents and a cold beverage :)
The NT and especially Ayres Rock/Uluru is on my list of places to see. Like you mentioned, I'm a bit wary of the wildlife up there so have to psych myself up to organise a trip.
Totally with you on the work to live bit too...

A great beautiful escape indeed! Hope the next few weeks go smoothly! xo style, she wrote

How amazing to be able to share this little daydream with you - I have forever wanted to go to Uluru & do treks in the middle of our beautiful country. I have heard it is one of the most spiritual and breathe takingly beautiful (in its own right) places that we've got. My mum took off when she was my age to explore Ayres Rock and was lucky that she got to climb it - she knows I love travel and always says that is one place I must go. Life sounds hectic for you over there at the moment but I'm glad you took the time out to daydream with us all.

p.s Mr M & I would love to one day share coffee/dinner/drinks somewhere in the world with you and lovely Mr C - because after all we're both working to live to see this big beautiful world we have! x
Oh wow, this looks absolutely gorgeous! I daydream about travel much of the time too!
These photos are stunning. I spend much of my time day dreaming about relaxing or exciting getaways as well. I would love to visit Perth someday.
Sunny Days and Starry Nights
this looks like an amazing time!
Would you believe it that I've been to Australia numerous times but never left the cities??! Okay, so I made an exception when I was in Perth because my friend took me around.
I'm always dreaming of my next trip. Granted that I've gotten lazier over the years and no longer want to run from one tourist site to the next. I'd much rather soak up the moment, wander around and get lost.
