21 Country escape

We had a perfect relaxing afternoon in Basking Ridge, New Jersey with some friends on Saturday. The sun was out, the breeze was warm and the company was wonderful. It was lovely to spend a few hours sitting outside, listening to the birds singing, the breeze sighing and the children laughing as they chased each other around the lawn.

After a tasty barbeque dinner, we strolled through the town hand-in-hand, admiring the weatherboard houses that line both sides of the main road, wondering at the 600 year-old tree that General Washington once sat under and imagining the lives of the people who lived here one hundred years ago.

I hope you had a fabulous weekend, wherever in the world you are!

From New York, with love xox

Beautiful photos!
It looks divine and so nice to be in the warm sunshine. It was mostly an indoors, with the fire going, weekend here x

It sounds like an idyllic weekend. Just reading the words transported me to the place even for a few minutes. Your photos are absolutely gorgeous.

I think its the best when you go to a town with a bit of history (so almost anywhere and everywhere in the U.S) and you get absorbed in the culture, if only for a moment in a simple comment or remark. The weekend sounds like warm summer bliss - its incredibly cold and wintery here in Aus right now but I'm loving it. Beautiful pictures as always :) xx

Everything looks so perfect! The place and flowers where beautiful and the food looked delicious! I had a relaxing weekend of trying a few new recipes and reading a good book.

Speaking of which you asked what kind of books I like that maybe we could swap some. I have a ton of mysteries and some fantasy books. Right now I am reading a series by Sue Grafton about PI Kinsey Millhone. All of the titles start with a letter of the alphabet I have completed books A-O. I have a ton of just random mysteries too. I like just about any kind of book except romances. So if you want to do a swap let me know.

I hope you had a great weekend.
