24 Chicago, a summer city

Chicago is glorious in the summer time - the water turns a special shade of blue as if in competition with the sky and the shores of Lake Michigan are perfect for relaxing. The city is lovely to walk around; it's pretty by day and even prettier by night as the lights of the buildings glimmer on every reflective surface possible - the dome of the Bean, the river and even puddles.

We managed to fit in an architecture tour, plenty of eating at Taste of Chicago, some bike riding, restaurant hopping and more sleep than I had managed the entire week before. All in all, a perfect weekend away... similar to our lovely trip last year

From Chicago, with love xox

How stunning is that blue sky! Oh I wish it was in Melbourne right now! Looks like a fantastic trip, what tour company did you use? I love walking tours, you end up seeing so much more than you would normally.

I loved Chicago when I visited. I had no expectations but came away a real fan. The blues clubs were fun and I really enjoyed the architecture tour on the boat. Great memories.
Unfortunately the 'bean' wasn't there when I was there. I'd love to see it. x

I never realized what a 'pretty' city Chicago was until I saw these exquisite photos. I usually see the city in the movies but somehow the natural and architectural beauty is lost in the glare of Hollywood lights. these are some fascinating modern structures.

I lived in Chicago for several years and the summer was always the best! It's nice to see that the city hasn't changed as much as I thought it would since I last saw it!!

Your tour of Chicago hits on every one of my desires when Mr. A & I finally make it out there! I dream of the Bean, I really do. I hope to see NYC, Chicago & Boston sooner rather than later. I've been healing from a muscle injury for almost 2 years now so it's hindered taking those kinds of trips.

When we do see NYC, we'll absolutely let you know!

My cousin lived in Chicago for 10 years and have always dreamed of moving back there. Love your travel jaunts. I've always thought that the city is like a concrete jungle but you've proved me wrong. I love how the lake is so accessible.

Oh wow what a spectacular city! My sister visited Chicago for a few days when she was in the US but unfortunately had rain. It looks just incredible in the sunshine! xo K

I remember when I was little, everytime I used to see the clouds parted and the sun shining down (like in one of your beautiful photos above) I was convinced it was God himself (or herself!) .... I don't know when I stopped believing it to be true beyond reasonable doubt, but even today, when I see photos of such a 'phenomena' or see it for myself, it always stops me in my track. So beautiful. As are all your photos. You ALWAYS have an incredible way of sharing photos through the lens as you see the world. Hope your sisters wedding plans are going well! xx

I always enjoy seeing other cities and towns through your eyes Hope. We did a long weekend in Chicago last summer and had such a fun time even though it was even hotter than NYC. The architecture tour had to be one of my fave things. I think Chicago's skyline is almost as pretty as NYC's. So I might be a little biased ;)
