27 California Dreaming

Life moves in a slower rhythm in California. All the better to pause and feel the sun on your skin, the breeze on your upturned face and taste the salty tang of the ocean on your lips. The sunset lingers a while before dusk takes its turn, with a soothing palette of deep blues, blush pinks and warm purples ushering in a serenely beautiful end to the day. Lights glow warmly against a dark velvety sky, and the sounds of waves crashing against the shore floats on the night air.

The days are vibrant, the colors alive and the pool just begs to be an oasis of relaxation. And that it is, after the end of a surfing lesson, a pleasant afternoon spent on horseback or a massage at the spa.

It's my new favorite place in America, and I'm already trying to convince lovely husband C. to go back for our Christmas break. Somehow, I don't think it'll be that hard!

From New York, with love xox

I cannot tell you how long it has been since I've seen a beach! I'm living vicariously through you. We're headed to QLD for Christmas (Gladstone/Rockhampton) I have a trip to NZ before that but I'm a lot more excited about heading up to Gladstone - decent warm/hot weather! Can't wait! As always, your pictures are breathtaking.

PS I actually just tried to fit my Ultrabook into it and it fits but then you can clasp it. When I go to work I've often put the Ultrabook and books/files into the Santorini and carried that in addition to the Mickey. They look great together! xoxox

California really sounds like an oisis of relaxation. And I envy you the warm weather there, a true fall has started here in the Czech rep. and there´s no more than 12°C outside. Enjoy for me ;)

Your pictures transport like always! Takes me back to trips of mine to San Diego. Sleeping seaside with the balcony doors open to the lullaby of the waves. Beating the sunrise to the punch & waiting patiently in the sand with a white hot chocolate for it to show its gentle morning face.

Cheers,

Hi Hun...I wish I could dive into these mesmerizing images, it all seems so calm and peaceful there, a place to get away from it all. The first picture of the serene blue sea is gorgeous and so is the one of the moon over that beautiful sunset. Hope you get to visit again!

I could almost taste the tangy breeze from the ocean. The writing that accompany these brilliant photos need to be slowly savored like wine. You're a fabulous writer and photographer.

Great pictures. West coast living is such a contrast with the fast paced life of the east coast. Enjoy

Stunning photos! Love the west coast and the drama of the seashore where the sea never stops moving wherever you look. I'm trying to figure out which beach you are on~

Wow - what beautiful pictures. I think out of all the states in the US california is most like living in Australia - the funny part is that I love living in Australia, but would never want to live in california!

Your pictures are lovely! As much as I love warmth, I think I'm a born and raised New Yorker at heart.
